Overview

The 5th Annual Henry Ford Gastroenterology and Hepatology symposium provides an evidence-based update on the diagnosis and management of complex gastrointestinal and hepatologic disorders. Expert faculty will review current therapeutic advances in chronic hepatitis B, metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease, including emerging medical therapies and management of disease-related complications. Additional sessions address complementary and alternative therapies in liver disease, pancreatic fluid collections, gastrointestinal motility and defecatory disorders, and evolving diagnostic and treatment strategies for Barrett’s esophagus, primary sclerosing cholangitis, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, and cholangiocarcinoma. Through case-based discussion and practical guidance, this activity supports clinicians in applying current evidence to improve patient outcomes across a spectrum of digestive diseases.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Summarize current therapeutic advances in the management of chronic hepatitis B.
  2. Describe evidence-based management strategies for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD/NASH).
  3. Evaluate the evidence, role, and safety considerations of complementary and alternative therapies in liver disease.
  4. Review diagnosis and management of IBD related strictures
  5. Discuss current and emerging medical therapies for inflammatory bowel disease and their clinical applications.
  6. Identify recent advances in the evaluation and management of gastrointestinal motility disorders.
  7. Apply diagnostic criteria and treatment strategies for defecatory disorders.
  8. Describe indications and management strategies for pancreatic fluid collections.
  9. Summarize current diagnostic and therapeutic updates in Barrett’s esophagus, primary sclerosing cholangitis, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, and cholangiocarcinoma.
