1. Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), while valuable for clinicians, is challenging to learn. This course will take the unique step of integrating Virtual Reality (VR) and live model training to facilitate the mastery of this skill. Participants will practice their skills using both modalities in order to practice the acquisition of images as well as the diagnosis of abnormal findings. 2. Determining surgical eligibility remains a major challenge for healthcare organizations. Variability in case boarding, testing, risk assessment, and quality metrics creates operational hurdles. Differences in case diversity, clinic workflows, and facility operations further complicate decision-making. As value-based care and accountability reshape healthcare, standardization is critical. The Department of Anesthesiology at Henry Ford Health developed a centralized, standardized platform integrating Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) and Optimization Services (O) into a single PATO team. This model ensures consistent preoperative processes across all facilities. We will share our program experiences, both positive and challenging to inform attendees of what can be accomplished and ways to go forward.

1. Apply Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) in clinical practice. Make diagnosis of critical findings for patient care using POCUS. Use Virtual Reality as a training tool.
2. Gain an understanding of the difference between surgery as an end point and surgery as an encounter on a patient’s overall health journey. Appreciate the difference between “I can do the case” versus “should I do the case”, and the implications for value-based care and reimbursement. Gain insight to value-based metrics chosen by different specialty societies and the mutual impacts on hospital quality and physician practice.

Henry Ford Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
