The Malik Lectureship in Neurosurgery at Henry Ford Health is an annual event that brings together leading experts in vascular neurosurgery to advance knowledge, foster collaboration, and improve outcomes in patient care. The 2026 Malik Lectureship will focus on key topics in cerebrovascular disease, including carotid stenosis, carotid endarterectomy, and stroke. The program is designed to deepen participants’ understanding of these complex conditions, enhance clinical expertise, and support excellence in neurosurgical practice and patient care. We are honored to feature Bernard Bendok, MD, Chair of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic Arizona, as the 2026 guest lecturer. Dr. Bendok is widely recognized for his dedication to surgical excellence, research, and education. An innovator in cerebrovascular disease, skull base anatomy, and minimally invasive surgery, he serves as Director of the Neurosurgical Simulation and Innovation Laboratory and Co-Director of the Precision Neurotherapeutics Laboratory. He also leads multiple clinical trials across stroke, neurovascular, and neuro-oncologic diseases, with a focus on advancing the efficacy, safety, and precision of neuroscience patient care.

2. Evaluate complex neurovascular cases
3. Discuss diagnostic tests and therapies in the treatment of patients with neurovascular diseases
4. Review new research in neurosurgical practice and the implications in the treatment of patients with high-risk CNS vascular disease
