Overview
This half-day symposium aims to bridge the gap between evolving clinical evidence and the daily management of common endocrine conditions. Given the rapidly evolving landscape of modern endocrinology as well as the increasing prevalence of metabolic disease and the current national shortage of specialist resources, this activity focuses on enhancing the collaborative management of conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, and bone health. Through expert-led didactic sessions and interactive case-based panels, participants will refine their skills in interpreting advanced glucose monitoring technology, navigating the latest non-insulin therapies, and applying current guidelines to the evaluation of thyroid, adrenal and bone-related pathologies. The primary goal is to ensure that both primary care clinicians and specialists are aligned on patient management pathways, thereby reducing diagnostic delays, streamlining patient care, and promoting evidence-based endocrine care for the community.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Diabetes Management: Interpret continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data to make real-time adjustments to treatment plans and learn logistics of ordering/maintaining this technology for patients.
  2. Obesity: Incorporate the latest FDA-approved anti-obesity medications into a comprehensive weight management plan, including titration and side-effect management.
  3. Thyroid: Manage primary hypothyroidism by applying evidence-based titration strategies for levothyroxine and identifying factors that interfere with absorption.
  4. Osteoporosis: Select the appropriate therapies for patients with osteoporosis, and counsel patients on proper administration and potential side effects. Develop a longterm monitoring plan and indications for considering drug holidays for patients on therapy.
  5. Adrenal: Discuss a standardized approach to patients who are on chronic glucocorticoid therapy, including monitoring for metabolic complications, bone health implications, and considerations of possible secondary adrenal insufficiency
