HFMH Stroke Grand Rounds (2026)

This Stroke Grand Rounds will review the major updates in the 2026 AHA/ASA Guideline for the Early Management of Acute Ischemic Stroke. The session will focus on changes in patient selection for thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy, advances in imaging-based decision-making, updated blood pressure recommendations, and other practice-changing guidance. Emphasis will be placed on translating the new recommendations into practical, timely, and standardized stroke care at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital.

1. Identify the major changes in the 2026 AHA/ASA acute ischemic stroke guideline, including updated recommendations for thrombolytic selection, eligibility, and extended-window treatment.
2. Apply the updated mechanical thrombectomy criteria to patients with anterior-circulation large-vessel occlusion, large ischemic cores, and basilar artery occlusion.
3. Incorporate updated blood pressure and supportive-care recommendations into standardized, multidisciplinary acute stroke workflows.
