Overview
The inaugural Trauma Symposium, hosted by the Henry Ford Health Trauma Recovery Center, brings together practitioners working with trauma survivors for a day of learning and networking. 55-90% of adults in the US have experienced at least one traumatic experience in their life. Working with trauma survivors requires a unique approach from practitioners to ensure the best care and outcomes possible. One such approach is meeting the survivor where they are. This symposium will highlight innovative ways of caring for trauma survivors by breaking down siloes of care and bridging the divide between systems and communities.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. understand the potential impact of trauma on an individual
  2. identify potential signs and symptoms of trauma in themselves and others and identify pathways for recovery
  3. understand what ACEs are and implications of ACEs when working with families of color
  4. identify innovative programs aimed at bringing care to survivors in the Metro Detroit area
  5. identify alternative forms of trauma recovery
