Overview
This 3-hour course will consist of basic ultrasound physics and vascular access techniques. Participants will practice on an inanimate vascular access arm.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Verbalize indications for use of bedside ultrasonography for peripheral IV access
  2. Demonstrate the ability to obtain ultrasound images of peripheral veins in the arm
  3. Demonstrate the ability to access a peripheral vein in short and long axes using real-time ultrasound or direct visualization.

Accreditation

Henry Ford Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The ACCME provides oversight and accreditation for organizations which grant Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit to physicians.
