Overview
This educational activity will feature visiting professor Dr. Graeme Woodworth, Chair of Neurosurgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, presenting current and emerging applications of Low Frequency Focused Ultrasound (LiFU) in the treatment of brain tumors. The program will review the scientific rationale, translational research efforts, technical considerations, and potential clinical applications of LiFU in neuro-oncology. Participants will engage in multidisciplinary discussions focused on innovation, collaborative research opportunities, patient selection, procedural workflows, and future directions for focused ultrasound therapies at Henry Ford Health.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Explain the role of blood-brain barrier modulation using focused ultrasound technologies.
  2. Identify appropriate patient selection criteria for LiFU-based clinical trials.
  3. Describe workflow considerations for implementing LiFU in a clinical or research setting.
  4. Recognize imaging requirements and intraoperative guidance considerations for LiFU procedures.
  5. Compare LiFU technology with existing standard-of-care and investigational therapies
